Afternoon Tapas in Cadaques Spain

Earlier this month I found myself once again in the Costa Brava region of Spain. The first time I was in the area it was in October and summer was long gone. During that time I spent a few days enjoying some rest and relaxation in a lovely country house in the middle of nowhere in the region during my road trip from Italy to Morocco. The only activity day we had during that short time was to the little village of Cadaques.

I fell in love with the charming fishing village that is Cadaques, Spain!

It was a stormy afternoon in October but the sky emitted this surreal light that I had seen in many of Salvador Dali’s paintings. The town itself was sleeping. Most business close in the off season so we had a leisurely coffee with the locals but no lunch.

This trip I was in Costa Brava to watch a few of the many summer music concerts in the region. While  our nights were jam-packed seeing a wide assortment of music or days were free to roam around the area. So I was excited to revisit Cadaques and Spain in the summer. We spent a lovely few hours frolicking at the Salvador Dali house before heading into town for tapas and wine.

Many Mahalos to Brian The Travel Vlogger for snapping this pic of me!

We dinned at Enoteca MF which is a lovely restaurant right in the heart of Cadaques. The restaurant is owned by the same family who run the Martin Faixó winery in the hills overlooking the village.

They produce a lovely Rose as well as a red and white wine. Recently they also started brewing beer. I tasted a small sample of the beer and it reminded me a lot of the beer Blue Moon that I often drink in the states. Everything I sipped was delicious but I was very partial to the Rose. Maybe it was the hot summer weather but for some reason I couldn’t get enough of this subtle fruity wine. As we were in Catalonia there of course was “Pa amb tomaquet” aka Bread and Tomato and you can’t go to Spain and not have jamon! I love me some cured pork products!

Cadaques Spain Tapas MF wineryIf that isn’t enough to tempt you they lovely people at Enoteca MF brought out this giant platter of fresh seafood. There was a tuna tartar and tataki, grilled shrimp, Salmon sashimi and more. We were a very happy bunch!

I was fascinated with watching this gloriously arranged symphony of delicate seafood quickly become a piece of modern art. Needless to say the platter got devoured!

We ate, drank and laughed our way through a beautiful afternoon in Cadaques. The whole week I was in Costa Brava this time was great but this day in my opinion was the best! I really do adore the town of Cadaques and can not wait to return. Having seen it in both high and low season I think this town has enough charm to win you over regardless of the weather.

* I was a guest of The Costa Brava Tourism Board as part of their #incostabrava & #musicfestivals campaigns but as always opinions and wine educed headaches are my own.
